What our ratings actually mean

September 23, 2026 · Lukas Vogel

People ask what separates a 4.1 from a 4.6, so here's the honest answer. Our ratings aren't a formula. They're where a game landed with us after real play, weighted toward fun, comfort and whether we kept opening the app voluntarily.

A high score means we had a genuinely good time and the game respected our phone and our hands. A mid score usually means something good is dragged down by one annoyance — bad controls, heavy battery drain, a cramped interface.

We don't average out individual stats into a number, because that produces soulless scores. A game can nail performance and still bore us, and that shows up in the rating even if nothing's technically broken.

So treat the number as a summary and the actual review as the real information. The paragraphs tell you whether a game's weaknesses matter to someone like you.
